A STRIPPER'S CHRISTMAS

DECEMBER 15-23, 2000 AT THE SLIPPER ROOM NYC

The JACKIE FACTORY's Christmas show is the ultimate New York alternative Christmas spectacle, infusing the difficult season with perspectives of the drag performer, the alienated artist, the working girl and the estranged outsider. The 2000 edition, A STRIPPER'S CHRISTMAS, followed Christmas Eve at "Jackie's Jewel Box", an imaginary burlesque house, as the best and worst of holiday moods infused the curtain calls and gaudy routines. Our stellar cast included legends of many performance genres, including postmodern dance greats THE BUTOH ROCKETTES, difficult drag divas DUELLING BANKHEADS, Dada showgirl MARTI DOMINATION, impossible beauty AMANDA LEPORE and poet BOBBY MILLER as burlesque MC "Jackie Pipkin." In the burlesque tradition, the cast added three "featured" performers each week, including DEBBIE HARRY, WORLD FAMOUS *BOB*, JESSICA RABBIT DOMINATION and Funny Lady JACKIE HOFFMAN.

A VERY JACKIE CHRISTMAS was born at LaMama in 1992, returned annually to The Theater at MOTHER from 1996-1999, and found a wonderful for 2001 and 2002 at the neo-burlesque SLIPPER ROOM on Orchard Street. This sixth edition (directed by CHI CHI VALENTI) broke all previous attendance records in a frenzy of feather boas, well-placed pasties and fake snow.
