Months of planning are about to take flight, as our 18th annual edition of NIGHT OF 1000 STEVIES - NIGHTBIRDS - takes over the HIGHLINE BALLROOM just one week from tonight. Besides being the largest and longest-running STEVIE NICKS fan event in the world, NOTS is a NYC nightlife tradition born at the intimate Tuesday night party JACKIE 60, in its very first year. Its growth and continued evolution proves that even in the most challenging club climate, true nocturnal lunacy will win out. Read down for this year's show order, and more magical May Events.

NIGHTBIRDS: THE ONES WHO SING AT NIGHT
NIGHT OF A THOUSAND STEVIES is the biggest and best-loved STEVIE NICKS fan event in the world, one of those great New York City nightclub spectacles that spark travel from all around the globe. For this year's edition, our largest NOTS stage EVER will host a record number of performers in three sets.
Returning LEGENDS OF STEVIE REALNESS include perennial show-stoppers THE HO-HOs (Cathy Cervenka and Jill Pangallo), "Shortbus" star JUSTIN BOND, founding performer and Cirque du Soleil star JOEY ARIAS, master puppeteer BASIL TWIST and "LITTLE STEVIE", BELLADONNA (Santa Barbara), GYPSY WILD, SHERRY VINE, BILLY O, LIZZIE DAVIS (Flower Mound, TX) SWEETIE, JAZMEN FLOWERS (Jackson, Miss), MISS GUY, D.D. SPARKS (Des Moines), JONNY TINGLE and COREY TUT, THE DIVINE GRACE, PREL (of Atlanta's "Blue Lamp" events), CHARLENE CORAN (Reno), JESSICA RABBIT and AMBER RAY DOMINATION. Our "Stevie Total Method Go-Go" troupe includes ABSINTHE and VANGELINE DOMINATION, MISS KELLY WEBB, PAIGE STEVENSON and DARLINDA JUST DARLINDA.
NOTS 2008 debuts will include choreographer JULIE ATLAS MUZ with the PIXIE HARLOTS (opening number), legendary firecracker MISTRESS FORMIKA and second-generation STEVIE NICKS performer THE POETESS BROOKE ALYSON from Houston (whose mother was also a STEVIE Songbird). More newness: rising trans-stars LINDA JAMES and OUR LADY J, singer/songwriter ADAM JOSEPH and JOHNNY DARLING and THE POST-MODERN HORROR. The evening features four "All-Stevie, All-Fleetwood DJs" - longtime NOTS rockers CRAIG SPENCER and POISON EVE, DJ JOEL (Harrisburg, Pa) and NOTS newcomer SAMMY JO (SCISSOR SISTERS tour DJ and MOTHER alum). Enchantresses of Ceremony CHI CHI VALENTI and HATTIE HATHAWAY are also the show's producers, with JOHNNY DYNELL (Art Director) and THE JACKIE FACTORY NYC.
Inspired by the haunting STEVIE NICKS song NIGHTBIRD, NOTS 18 is dedicated to the memory of founding performer DEAN JOHNSON, who died under tragic and mysterious circumstances in late 2007.

On what would have been Dean Johnson's 47th birthday, his many friends, cohorts and fellow musicians join for an epic celebration of New York City's recently lost Star. The towering Johnson was a pioneer in many ways, helping to shape the NYC gay and transgendered nightscape with his parties ROCK 'N ROLL FAG BAR and HOMOCORPS. Best known as songwriter and lead singer for two influential NYC bands, DEAN AND THE WEENIES and THE VELVET MAFIA, he will be remembered that way tonight. Both bands will take the stage for extended sets with guest artists from Dean's many nocturnal circles performing his most classic songs. At presstime, they are AMANDA POLLOCK, BEBE BUELL, BONNIE BOWERS, COREY TUT, DAZZLE DANCERS, DUELLING BANKHEADS, EUNICE HOLLAND, JENNY MAUL, JOEY ARIAS, KEVIN AVIANCE, MELISSA TIERS, MICHAEL "FORMIKA" JONES, MISS MANDY LEMONS, NURSE WANDA (JEAN WALSH), PERRI MASCO, PHOEBE LEGERE, THE GIRLS FROM PLANET MUFF, WORLD FAMOUS *BOB* and XAVIER. Besides celebrating Johnson's cultural legacy in video and song, the evening also nods to his big heart - 100% of proceeds after show expenses will benefit SYLVIA'S PLACE, providing shelter for homeless GLBT youth in NYC.
