The sleepiest time in clubs - post-New Year's to Valentines - is now done, and this weekend's Valentines/Presidents Day double whammy is sure to bring the troops out with a bang! But, where to go? Here, five selections that among them span most of our tribes, from clothing-optional Leather Daddies to Vampire vixens and T-girls. We can't promise help for a broken heart - just a farewell to winter isolation, a great excuse to dress up (or undress) and perhaps your next big romance, waiting on the dancefloor. GARY 49 DJ tag team JOHNNY DYNELL and SAMMY JO make Fridays a dancer's dream, playing new mixes and beats on a superb sound system till 6 AM at MR. BLACK. GARY 49 is a dance party first and foremost, with eclectic guest spinners joining the residents each week and fabulous lights by SCOTT LaROCK. The weekly also relies on hosts including DREW, MACKY and AIMEE PHILLIPS (THE TRINITY) and LADYFAG, door goddesses CONNIE GIRL FLEMING and ROZE, strong drinks, and infamous cocktail servers including THE ASS, WRESTLE BOY and BLACK EDDIE for its unique flavor. All rally around silly excuses for dressing up, like tonight's combined Friday 13th/Valentine's theme MY BLOODY VALENTINE. As is becoming the rule during this winter of tight budgets, the next few weeks will feature an open vodka bar from 10:30 - 11:30 PM - one more reason to come out early!

One of the large annuals born at MOTHER and her Vampyre weekly LONG BLACK VEIL, the ANTI-VALENTINES VAMPIRE BALL is always the first big Dark event of the year. Produced by SABRETOOTH (also responsible for the New Orleans ENDLESS NIGHT VAMPIRE BALL every Halloween), the Ball is a beautiful excuse to don your fangs, black ruffles and cloaks and mix with other like-minded souls in the former BANK space, beloved by all of Gotham's Gothic clubbers. DJs include the venerable IAN FFORD (of LONG BLACK VEIL and ALBION), Endless Night fixture AENGEL and XRIS SMACK! of the SMACK! parties. Night of a Thousand Stevies is probably the best-known STEVIE NICKS fan event in the world, a riot of shawls, lace, baby's breath, twirling, tambourines and great performance. We're delighted to bring you the latest news about NIGHT OF 1000 STEVIES 19: SONGS OF RHIANNON, coming on May 1. This year's theme revolves around the "SONGS OF RHIANNON" penned by STEVIE NICKS in her BUCKINGHAM NICKS days, and the legend of the Celtic witch RHIANNON, so central to Stevie's mythology. The box office is now open for this marathon night on the HIGHLINE BALLROOM site, and discount ($20) tickets are also available there through 2/15.
Our first confirmed performers span many of the unique and timeless stars that make "The Night" so special, and the search is now on for this year's new discoveries. Returning Legends of Stevie Realness already include NYC Dragstars (and Project Runway supermodels) SHERRY VINE and SWEETIE, perennial NOTS Divas THE HO-HOs, AMBER GARBO (Las Vegas), GYPSY WILDE, JAZMEN FLOWERS (Mississippi), CHARLENE CORAN (Colorado), THE DIVINE GRACE, LIZZIE DAVIS (Texas), NOTS starlets HEATHER LITTEER (aka JESSICA RABBIT DOMINATION), TIFFANEY of MIRROR IN THE SKY and AMBER RAY, and singer/songwriter ADAM JOSEPH.
Show producers CHI CHI VALENTI and HATTIE HATHAWAY will serve as "Enchantresses of Ceremony" and all-Stevie/Fleetwood DJs CRAIG SPENCER, SAMMY JO and POISON EVE will keep the dancefloor twirling between show sets. As always, this Enchanted evening will climax in a twirl of shawls and tambourines with the Battle of a Thousand Stevies near morning. You won't forget this night!
