Just a few weeks left to Summer in the City, and luckily there are some outstanding evenings coming up before autumn rolls in. Lamentably, there is no WIGSTOCK this August, but Labor Day promises THE NY BURLESQUE FESTIVAL, three days of pasties, lashes, and Girlie Power. ROSE ROYALLE celebrates a glitter-drenched birthday this week, and UTOPIA PARKWAY goes all Vampy Disco to close out the month. (Not just a pretty face, Rose is also an accomplished painter, was a founding moderator of THE MOTHERBOARDS, and helped develop the QUEENMOTHER.TV website.) Clubwide at Crobar tonight SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, with insanely popular DJ BORIS, brings classic Seventies stylings to the performers and club decor. On the Reed Room platforms of UTOPIA PARKWAY, producers CHI CHI VALENTI and JOHNNY DYNELL ("THE JACKIE FACTORY") bring to life some personal female favorites from the Golden Nightlife Era, from Studio Sirens and Roller Disco tarts to SAVANNAH BAND vocalist CORY DAYE. John Travolta may rule the main floor, but in our room its all about The Ladies. From 11:30, look for high glamour and lots of body glitter on a stable of stars including ANGIE PONTANI (of burlesque's famous PONTANI SISTERS, see below), nostalgic vixen DELIRIUM TREMENS and HOUSE OF DOMINATION divas CATWALK, LOVE LEIGH, HEAVEN LEIGH and VANGELINE. DJ Dynell adds disco classics to his opening and closing sets - LAST DANCE at dawn, anyone?

New York City's very own Burlesque Festival is a three day celebration produced by the fabled WORLD FAMOUS PONTANI SISTERS and knockout producer THIRSTY GIRL. Over 100 of the world's best and brightest Burley-Qers will strut their stuff at three glamorous venues, including festival debuts by MURASAKI BABY DOLL (JAPAN), KEDA BREEZE (LONDON) and BLUE LIGHT BURLESQUE (MONTREAL). Hometown favorites include THE PONTANIS, DIRTY MARTINI, THE WORLD FAMOUS *BOB* and JACKIE FACTORY stars AMBER RAY and DELIRIUM TREMENS. Legends from other American Burlesque cities are featured throughout, including THE NATIONAL BURLESQUE ORCHESTRA featuring Fisherman "tiki vibes" from San Francisco and Ronnie Magri representing New Orleans' SHIM SHAM REVUE. Come out and support a new NY tradition, and all of the fabulous ladies that make this scene shine 52 weeks a year!

CHI CHI IN DA PARISH
Of all our Summer projects, Most Unforgettable surely was our collaboration with SHINE PRESENTS, a ST. BERNARD PARISH (Louisiana) theater company who lost their homes, costumes, sets, and everything but their enormous hearts to Hurricane Katrina. Through the generosity of many "Motherfolk" the Jackie Factory managed to ship out nearly two hundred pounds of costumes, wigs and props to these special thesbians, and our own CHI CHI VALENTI helped costume the company's upcoming tour VOICES OF LOUISIANA, which debuts for Katrina's anniversary next weekend. Special thanks to SYDNEY RAY and the tireless volunteers of RELIEF SPARK, costumers WENDY WRIGHT and AMBER RAY DOMINATION, HALLOWEEN ADVENTURE NYC, MONTANA REENACTMENT, and THE STEVIE NICKS EXPERIENCE.
