The experimental CABARET MAGIQUE performance series was launched in January 2003 by THE JACKIE FACTORY as the Iraq War loomed. The beautiful
CHEZ ES SAADA Moroccan restaurant in New York's East Village was a great setting for this weekly refuge and experimental playground. The series ran for a year and
a half, later moving to Tapis Rouge on nearby Avenue A. Producers
CHI CHI VALENTI, JOHNNY DYNELL and MICHAEL JAMES O'BRIEN provided a signature mix of classic showgirl performance,
experimental spoken word, chanteuses of all genders, and other rising
stars of the downtown demi-monde. Here, highlights from past editions
for your pleasure.
