THE ANNE RICE COVEN BALL PARTY REPORT

FRIDAY OCTOBER 27TH, 2000
THE STATE PALACE THEATER, NEW ORLEANS

Anne's famous VAMPIRE LESTAT FAN CLUB party moved to an historic Canal Street venue in 2000, and the crowd really rose to the challenge. We hadn't attended in the thirteen years prior, and really regretted it: this crowd was more dressed than any we've seen of late, DONE in numerous Anne, Lestat, Memnoch, Mayfair Witch, Talamasca and Vamp Chronicles incarnations. Some costumes looked as elaborate as Mardi Gras. The old vaudeville theater, slightly crumbling, was a perfect setting for all of those BIG costumes. The onstage performances included a voodoo ritual and a beautiful latenight set by The Changelings.

2007 UPDATE: THE JACKIE FACTORY was back in New Orleans for the 2007 LES TEMPS DES VAMPIRES (VAMPIRE LESTAT FAN CLUB BALL) "THE WITCHING HOUR", held on Halloween weekend at THE HOWLIN' WOLF. We are so pleased that this event is back after a six year hiatus, and look forward to attending the 2008 edition, along with the ENDLESS NIGHT DAY OF THE DEAD Vampire Ball. If you are planning on attending either or both of these, better start working on those outfits soon!

They brought Vampire and Romantic Gothic interpretations from far and near, including the vixenish TONYA from Louisiana (top far right,) BARON FRANK of Slimelight UK and NYC (in red bowler below left) and the elegant SALLY from Atlanta (below far right.) This explosion of Vampire style and Gothic creative costuming left us swooning!
